St Petroc’s has a large group of young people who meet in their newly refurbished room at the Church hall on a Thursday evenings from 7.00pm until 8.30pm. Aged from 10 years to 18 years they work towards 2 awards, at 10 years they can start on the Adventure Challenge and at 14 years begin the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.. The Adventure Challenge is a lead into the D of E award and run along the same lines.
Adventure Challenge is divided into Junior and Senior levels and each level has two stages. The young people undertake a series of tasks e.g. local visits, crafts, cooking, walks, camp, and service projects.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s has three levels - bronze, Silver and Gold and is divided into Service, Skill, Sport and Expedition with a Residential event added at the Gold level. All the sections are meant to challenge the young people but at their level which makes the Award accessible to everyone.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is nationally recognised and is a worthwhile addition to any Record of Achievement. It is also of great value when used on a C.V or job application.
Anyone interested in joining Team Vision is welcome to come along to the St Petroc’s Church Hall on a Thursday evening or contact Sheila Stevens on (01208) 77612 or Rev. Graham Minors at St Petroc’s Rectory
